This thesis examines the impact of strategic management decisions on the financial performance of large Russian enterprises in the context of the 2022-2023 economic crisis. The study focuses on how companies navigated severe sanctions, economic isolation, and increased uncertainty. It identifies three main strategies adopted by companies during the crisis: Retrenchment, Persevering, and Innovation.
The research primarily analyzes data from the top 100 revenue-generating Russian companies, assessing their financial indicators and strategic responses to the crisis. The study finds that proactive strategies, particularly Innovation, led to more favorable financial outcomes, while Retrenchment resulted in negative performance. The thesis employs a quantitative approach using regression analysis and natural language processing to categorize strategies and measure their impact on revenue change from 2022 to 2023.
